Florida Alzheimer's Disease Initiative (ADI)

The Florida Alzheimer's Disease Initiative (ADI), administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) through Area Agencies on Aging, provides support services specifically for family caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia disorders. Services include in-home respite care, caregiver training and education, case management, support groups, supplemental supplies (incontinence products, nutritional supplements), adult day care, and emergency respite. The program targets moderate-to-low income families who cannot afford private dementia care.

ADI provides family caregivers of Alzheimer's and dementia patients with respite care (in-home and adult day), caregiver training (including behavioral management techniques), individual and group counseling, case management, and supplemental supplies such as incontinence products and nutritional supplements. Services are coordinated through local Area Agencies on Aging and Aging Service Networks. Sliding scale fees apply; no caregiver is turned away for inability to pay. Eligibility requires care recipient to have a confirmed or suspected Alzheimer's or related dementia diagnosis.
