Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)¶
Refundable federal tax credit for low-to-moderate income working individuals and families. The credit amount depends on earned income, filing status, and number of qualifying children. Designed to supplement wages and reduce poverty for working families.
Refundable federal tax credit for low- to moderate-income workers and families. For tax years beginning in 2026, maximum credits are $664 with no qualifying children, $4,427 with one qualifying child, $7,316 with two qualifying children, and $8,231 with three or more qualifying children. Completed phaseout amounts for all eligible filing statuses other than married filing jointly are $19,540, $51,593, $58,629, and $62,974 respectively; married filing jointly completed phaseouts are $26,820, $58,863, $65,899, and $70,244. Investment income must not exceed $12,200. Claimants must have earned income and valid SSNs, and childless claimants must generally be age 25 through 64.
