Family Caregiver Support Program¶
The OAA, through FCSP, seeks to provide a local, multifaceted system of support services to (1) unpaid family caregivers of older adults, and (2) grandparents, or other older relatives, with primary caregiving responsibilities for a child.
Eligibility¶
- Applicant age: at least 18
- Care recipient age: at least 60
- Relationship: child, grandparent, other relative, non relative
Questions to ask the program¶

- Does the person receiving care live in California? — Residency is usually the first thing a program checks.
- Does your relationship to the person — child, grandparent, other relative, or non relative — count for this program?
- Is the person receiving care in the covered age range (60 or older)?
- Is there a caregiver-specific department, coordinator, or support line? Ask for it by name. — Many agencies have one that isn’t advertised on the website.
- What documents do you need from us to start an application?
- Is there a waitlist right now, and how long is it?
